New Year’s Skin Care Resolutions

New Year’s Skin Care Resolutions

We are starting off 2023 and as in every new year, this is a new beginning to leave behind old habits, things and lifestyles that we no longer feel add value to our lives. And like everything, this also applies to our skin care. Sometimes by wanting to pamper ourselves, we put aside the importance of taking care of our skin. But even so, we have to keep in mind that the skin is an organ that also has to be in constant care and therefore, what better time than the beginning of the year to show our skin the necessary care.

Here are 5 things to add to your list of resolutions this year for the prettiest and healthiest skin out there.

 Get rid of old products

We know that there are times when, because we want to save money, we continue to keep products that have passed their expiration dateBut the thing is that keeping expired products may not only lack potency, but could be harmful to your skin and cause an adverse skin reaction. We highly recommend that even if you're unsure about how old a product is, our advice is to toss anything that has significantly changed in consistency, color, smell, or looks clumped or separated. So now you know. Yes! Skincare products do expire and should no longer be welcomed in your skincare routine.

Take a look at your diet

Believe it or not, diet plays a pretty important role when it comes to your skin care. An intake made up of vegetables, olive oil and legumes (all rich in antioxidants) has been shown to protect the skin against sun damage, while a diet rich in sugary foods, meat, dairy products and butter is more harmful. However, this doesn’t mean that one day you cannot treat yourself. But you shouldn't overdo it. If you want your skin to improve and be healthy, we also suggest you follow a diet rich in antioxidants to protect it from external agents. Therefore, think twice before listening to your stomach and giving in to those day-to-day cravings that could be harming both your health and your skin.

Opt for clean beauty

If you are not familiar with clean beauty or haven’t heard the term before, we’ll explain it for you. Clean beauty refers to non-toxic beauty. It is a term used to describe cosmetics and skincare products that are free from any harmful chemicals. This includes ingredients like parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. These products offer safe results without compromising your health. Clean beauty doesn’t have to be organic, although it can be, it is a major requirement that all ingredients are safe to use. Don't be misled, just because a label says it is organic or green, it necessarily has to be clean beauty.

Do your research

We have heard several people recommend the use of a certain product to loved ones or relatives, but the secret is behind the brand and the product itself, if not it is in the ingredients it contains. It's important to educate yourself on the ingredients a product contains before you make a purchase. You don't really need to be skincare savvy, but in this way, besides saving money, you will also be getting the most out of everything you buy. You will also see real results in a faster time because you are hitting exactly what your skin needs. So next time, keep this in mind: It's not the product, the brand, nor the price that will get you the results you want, but the ingredients.
